The red / purple filter sponges for the BioTec ScreenMatic² 60000 and 140000 flow filters are easy to use and very easy to clean. They are part of the fine filtration in the BioTec filter: mechanical fine filtration and biological filtration through aerobic (oxygen-rich) conditions allow bacteria in the red zone to break down or oxidize to nitrate. Plants can naturally absorb and break down nitrate. Also suitable for the previous model BioTec ScreenMatic 18 and 36.
